Creating Chipboard Elements for Digital Scrapbooking using ScrapSimple Tools
Note: Tutorial is written in Photoshop Elements.
Using the ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Chipboard 1801 Mini, I'm going to show you how to create your own digital scrapbooking chipboard elements in PSE. First, we need to choose a shape for your chipboard element. To do so, select your Custom Shape Tool.
Then, open your Custom Shape Picker. For this example I'm going to use some floral shapes from the ScrapSimple Tools - Shapes: Blossoms 2101.
Once you have chosen your shape, open a new document and place your shape on it.
Next, I'm going to take my digital scrapbook pattern paper and place it over the top of this shape. Then, merge the two layers. To do this with the paper layer active, press Ctrl+G, then "Merge Visible."
Now that you have your flower covered in paper, you can add your Chipboard Style to this. In your Styles and Effects menu, choose your Chipboard Style.
Next, I'm going to apply the last style in this group. You will notice that each style does something different. The first two apply a default brown chipboard look and the last applies the chipboard to your element as it is.
As you can see for this first flower, I've chosen a paper that was already distressed and the look of this paper blends in great with the chipboard look. Here's a sample of a chipboard flower made out of a paper with no distressing in it.
From here, you can also change the look of the chipboard by altering the Scale Effect on this Style. Go to Layer> Layer Style> Scale Effect and you will get a dialogue box.
In this dialogue, you will see a slider. You can use this slider to change the amount of Style added to your item.
