Create Quilted Digital Scrapbooking Papers with ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Quilted

Simulating quilted fabric in digital scrapbooking is easier than you may think. Here are some easy techniques using ScrapSimple Tools and Paper Templates to get you started in no time.
Start by opening up the ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Quilted Template of your choice. I chose " Circles2."
Create a new layer underneath the circles and fill the layer with a color of your choice.
Underneath the Blend Modes in the Layers Palette, click the "Lock Pixels" button, choose your stitch color, and type Alt+Delete (Option+Delete on a mac) to fill the circles with your new color.
To get a quick raised and stitched look for the circles, I’ve loaded Mandy Steward's ScrapSimple Tools – Styles: Embed 1801. I applied the 4th Style in the set to the circles layer. Now the stitches look dimensional, but I’d like to make the shadows look more realistic with the turquoise color.
On the circle stitches layer, click on the script "f" button that indicates the applied Layer Styles or Effects. The Layer Styles Palette will open. Click the first option on the left, "Drop Shadow." Select the black color in the Blend Mode options. Instead of black, we want to pick a more natural color.
With the Eyedropper Tool, I selected the turquoise color of the background. In the color picker window, I dragged the round cursor in the window down to a darker shade of turquoise. Now the shadow looks more realistic on our paper. Hit "OK" and stay within the Layer Styles window.
Next go to the "Bevel and Emboss" option and select the black in the Shadow Mode. Again, select a darker turquoise when the color picker pops up. Hit "OK" and "OK" again in the Layer Styles window.
Now that the stitching looks dimensional, I’d like to add fabric texture to the paper. I’ve opened up a Paper Template from Durin Eberhart’s ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Ratty Tatty.
After dragging the Ratty Tatty Template onto the background color layer, lock the pixels again on the layer, select a lighter turquoise color, and fill the layer with color.
