Step-by-step instructions for downloading your digital scrapbooking products from Scrap Girls
1. Go to this web address:
http://store.scrapgirls.com/download

2. Put the password that you were given in the "Comments"
section of your order delivery email into the password box that you will
see when you get there. It will be a long string of numbers and letters;
something like 123BO234709WER32497. (I just invented that one for demonstration
purposes. It doesn't work.)
Tip: Copy and paste it directly from your email rather than
trying to type it in. It's a lot easier that way! If you are uncertain
about how to copy and paste do this:
-
Put your cursor at the beginning of your passcode.
-
Hold your right mouse button down as you drag your cursor
across the whole passcode. It will become highlighted when you are
through.
-
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C to
copy it.
-
Put your cursor in the download passcode box.
-
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V to
paste it in.
Push the button and you will go on to the download page.
If you get an error about your passcode being wrong, something has gone
wrong as you were copying and pasting. The most common problems are due
to people trying to type the passcode in, so I don't recommend it at all.
When you get to the download page, you will see something
like this:

4. Push the first download button. You'll see something
like this:

5. Choose the "Save" option. After you have gotten
that, you will see a dialogue come up that allows you to choose your download
location on your computer. Now, I just happen to have set up a folder
which is located inside of the "My Documents" folder which I
called "Software Downloads." Your computer may be either pointing
your download to your temporary file (which is fairly common) or it will
point to the last place you downloaded something to. This is your opportunity
to choose where you want your files to end up. Pick a place where you
can remember where they are (such is in a folder that you create for them
inside of your "My Documents" folder or other similar place.
Then choose to "Save."

6. Your computer will then show you the progress of your
download:

7. Repeat these steps one download button at a time until
you have downloaded all of the zipped folders.
8. Now, go to your folder on your computer where you downloaded
the files to. You will see folders that look like this. (Of course, you
will see more than one of them. I have just downloaded one to illustrate
the principle to you.)

9. Right-click on one of the zipped folders. (You can tell
when a folder is zipped because it has the little zipper around it.) When
you do that, a menu will pop-up. Choose "Extract All" from the
options you see.
10. You will then see the Extraction Wizard. Click on the
"Next" button.

11. When you see this page, just click through it. It allows
you to choose a different location for your unpacked files to go to, but
we will just have them go to the same location where your zipped folder
is located.

12. You will then see this dialogue, telling you that your
files are unzipped. Click on the "Finish" button and you are
through.

13. Click into the folders and you will see your files.
In this example, I am showing you the Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed
Movie Icons. To watch one of the movies, just double-click on it and your
Windows Media player should bring it up and it will start. If you had
purchased graphics from us, you would see the little icons representing
the images in the folder.
14. If you close down the folder and look in your original
folder, you will now see your original zipped folder and the unzipped
folder.

15. If you happened to have purchased the Scrapbook Software
Secrets Revealed Training series, you will find that there are multiple
movies in most of the folders. You will see something that looks like
this:

Notice that this particular folder has the 13th and 14th
movies in it. They are all numbered and you should start by watching movie
number 1 and then move to movie number 2, etc. If you wish, you could
move all of the movies into a single folder. They just have to be downloaded
as they are because if they came in one big folder, it would be too big
to download!
To move the movies into a new folder, do this:
-
Create a folder somewhere on your computer (maybe in
your "My Documents" folder) with the name of the product
you have purchased.
-
Reduce your window sizes so that you can see both the
prepared folder and the folder with your movie files in them.
-
Grab one of the movies by clicking on it (single-click)
and then drag it over to the prepared folder window. Continue doing
this until all of your movies, the copyright information and all other
documentation that comes with the product is moved together.
To watch one of the movies, just double-click on it and
it will immediately start. You do NOT have to open your viewer and then
browse to the movie and start it that way. If the movie doesn't start
or you can't see a play button once the viewer comes up, it means that
something is wrong with your movie viewer (QuickTime or Windows Media
Viewer). You can find updated versions and information at:

Problems with the movies playing are always related to the
players and not to the actual movies themselves. If you need additional
advice, contact Ro at hello@scrapgirls.com.
16. If you happen to have downloaded one of our graphic
folders, you will see something like this when you look in the zipped
folders:

This sample is Erica Hite's ScrapSimple Alpha Template:
Henna. Notice that it has many graphic images and instructions for use.

so that they will be easy to find can be found

Note: The best way to print out this tutorial
is to copy it and paste it in MS Word. Make sure you start with Internet
Explorer, as that works best. If you do not own MS Word, you can get a
free piece of software that will accept it as if it is a Word document
at Open Office.
