Adding a Gradient Fill to a Digital Scrapbook Transparency
This free digital scrapbooking tutorial was created using Adobe Photoshop CS2 with Windows, but should be able to be adapted easily to other systems. If you have questions about how to do this, just ask on our message board!
In your digital scrapbooking graphics program, such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, open the digital scrapbook paper “DEB_Susie_paper_red.jpg” from Durin Eberhart's Susie Collection Biggie and the ScrapSimple Transparency Overlays: Suzette. Using Shift+Drag, place the transparency on the paper.
Click on the Gradient Tool and choose a gradient.
Make a new layer. Click and hold your mouse in the left upper corner of the new layer. Drag across the upper edge to the upper right corner and release. You have now filled the new layer with a gradient. (If you would rather cover the digital scrapbooking transparency with a solid color, instead of adding a gradient to the new layer, fill the new layer with paint.)
Press Ctrl+G (PSE and PSCS) to create a clipping mask, which will conform the gradient to the shape of the transparency. (The clipping mask command in Adobe Photoshop CS2 and above is Ctrl+Alt+G.)
This technique adds a bit of fun and drama to your digital scrapbook page.
