Updating your personal profile really isn’t that much of a mystery. It is pretty simple, once you find where the controls are. This tutorial will show you all of that, plus take you to where you can view your finished profile.

 

To begin, login to the Scrap Girls website. Go to the message board and then go to "My Controls" at the top of your screen.

 

Here, you will find all of the links that you need to update your profile. To start, let’s update our written profile. Look down the left side of the page for the line that states "Edit Profile Information."

 

On this page, you can edit any information that you would like to share with your fellow Scrap Girls. Note: One item on this page that you may not be allowed to edit is the "Custom Member Title." This option will not be available until you reach 2500 posts. When you are finished updating the page, don’t forget to click "Amend My Profile."

 

Let’s update our personal statement. This can be done by scrolling down the page to "Edit Personal Portal Information."

 

After you edit your personal statement, don’t forget to click "Save Settings."

 

Now, there are two photos that you may want to add to your profile. One is your avatar. This is the little square that appears beneath your member name on your posts, within the message boards. Scroll down the My Controls page to find this link: "Edit Avatar Settings."

 

Remember to pay close attention to the size restrictions placed on this photo. Browse on your computer to find the photo. After you upload your photo, don’t forget to click "Update Avatar." If you don’t have a photo for your avatar yet, then feel free to browse from the Scrap Girls library of free avatars found right on this page.

 

Next is your personal photo. This is your profile photo or the one that other members can see when they look up your personal profile. Scroll down the My Controls page until you find the link for "Change Personal Photo."

 

The settings for this photo are different, so be sure to read the requirements. Browse your computer for this photo. After you upload your photo, don’t forget to click "Update Photo" when you are finished.

 

Now, to check that all of your settings are the way you would like them, go back to the message board. Click on your username at the top left-hand corner of the screen.

 

This will take you to your profile page. Here you will see your new avatar.

 

You will see your personal photo.

 

And, you will find your personal statement and profile information.
