Not too long ago, these new products started showing up in the Scrap Girls Boutique. I could not have imagined how versatile they would be. They were called “Assemble Your Own” products. Yet another ingenious Scrap Girl product idea that takes some of our favorite embellishments, and makes them completely customizable to suit our exact needs. What could be better? Have you tried them yet? If not, you’re surely missing out, so I’ll give you a sneak peek at how fun and easy they are to use.
For this layout, I chose to use Erica Hite’s Assemble Your Own: Bookworm Panels. They come with a variety of colors and styles of the background panels, as well as three different styles of word art. They coordinate really well with Valerie’s Wishful Star Collection with which I had started to build my layout.

Here is my layout thus far. At this point, I want to add some word art to my page.

Next, I open the pieces of the Assemble Your Own: Bookworm Panels that I think will work best for this page. I chose the Round Panel (back image) and the “friends” word in Gold (front image) to use.

I’m happy with the way that looks now, so I’m now going to merge the two layers together (the shortcut I like to use is Ctrl+E) and drag the finished panel onto my page. But, before I add to my layout, I decide that I like this combination and I want to save it to use again in the future. To do this, I do a “Save As,” and I save the file as a PNG file to retain the transparent background.
The next step is to drag the word art onto the panel and position and resize it until I get the look I want. I select my Move Tool and click on the Word, then I drag it onto the panel window and it pops into the middle. Still using the Move Tool, I resize and reposition my Word until it’s just where I want it.

Now, to move my panel onto my layout, I again select my Move tool, click on the merged panel, and then drag it onto my layout. I decide to position it down in the lower right corner of my page, overlapping my torn edge on my paper and the corner of my photo.
As you can see, Assemble Your Own Products are a great way to add a customized touch to your layouts. You get a wide variety of colors and other features to choose from that enable you to essentially build your own embellishments that are a perfect fit for your pages. And the best part is, they are very simple to use.
I add a few more embellishments and some journaling to the tags on my layout and here’s my finished product.
