If you have ever paper scrapped, you have likely run into the situation where you are in the middle of making your title and you realize you have run out of stickers or rubons or whatever medium it is you are using. Lucky for us digital scrappers, we don’t have to worry about running out of product. There are so many possibilities available to us and with the opportunity to use a product again and again, we will never run out of letters.
And lucky for us, Scrap Girls offers a product that not only allows you unlimited alphas to make your titles, but also a way to create titles that are your own, customized to your individual layouts to match perfectly. In fact, the only limit here is your imagination!
Have you ever bought a digital kit only to wish that it had come with a matching alphabet? With Scrap Girls' ScrapSimple Alpha Templates, a scrapper can customize alphas in any style they wish to make alphas match their layouts. Now matching alphas to your favorite kit is simple and easy. And what’s even better, unlike stickers or rubons, you’ll never run out of your favorite letters, you can use these templates again and again to get many different looks.
For my layout “So Beautiful,” I knew that I wanted to have a special title for it. The ScrapSimple Alpha Templates were perfect in helping me to create a unique and beautiful title. I chose the ScrapSimple Alpha Templates: Le Jardin Biggie for this project as I really liked the look of the alphas that I would be able to create. I am a sucker for charms so this template was perfect. I also liked the idea that I would be able to use many of the beautiful papers in the All About Marriage Collection Biggie in creating my title.

The first thing I needed to do with this template was to choose which style I wanted to use for my title. I already knew that I wanted to use several of the papers as backgrounds for the alphas and I thought that it might be fun to hang the title from the ribbon, so I decided to create rectangle charms for the word “beautiful.” Next, I dragged the base template onto my layered page over the first paper I planned to use.
Then with my Magic Wand, I selected one of the black rectangles. I then highlighted the paper layer beneath and copied and pasted the selection onto a new layer. I repeated this, choosing different papers each time, until I had enough for my title.

Next, I decided I wanted to unify the alpha backgrounds a little bit, since they were different patterned papers. I decided to use the inked edges template to add to each paper. I dragged it onto my layered page and lined up each of the little alpha backgrounds I had just created. You might want to zoom in so you can really make sure everything is lined up just right. At this point to make things easier later on, I have decided to merge all visible layers. Make sure you have everything right where you want it though, and make sure only to have the inked edges and alpha backgrounds visible. Because I am working right on my actual layout, I want to make sure none of those other elements are visible.

Now it was time to add the alphas themselves. At this point, you can either add the supplied alphas or use any font you would like. You can also really make a unique title by applying a layer style to the font too. I decided to use the font AMC Sketchy Solid. I typed in each letter on each of the backgrounds. Then to glitz it up a bit, I applied one of the ScrapSimple Tools: Styles Glitter Metals Mini to each letter. I chose the silver one. Once these were all done, I again merged the visible layers. One thing to note, when I added the inked backgrounds earlier, I could have also applied a Style to those or changed the color, but I decided I liked the black inked edges, so I left them as they came.

The next step, since these were to be used as charms, was to add the little charm loops that come with this set. I dragged this template onto my layered page and made sure it lined up correctly with the charms, again zooming in real close to check. Then merge these with the alpha layer.
The next step is to select each charm and put it on its own layer so that you can move them about the page. I will use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to do this, first getting rid of all the excess stuff I don’t need, then copying and pasting each alpha on its own layer. Once they are each on their own layer, move them to where you want them on the page.
Because I created alpha charms, I hung them from a ribbon, carefully erasing part of the charm loop to look like they were actually threaded through the ribbon. Once this was complete, I added the rest of my title using the metal alphas also included in the template set, drop shadows throughout and my title was complete.
These alpha templates offer many different ways you can create your own unique titles. You can simply choose your own color and fill the templates and then add any overlay you’d like to obtain a painted or crackled look, for example. Really, the possibilities are endless.
I should also add, that each template set comes with instructions and our designers are much better than I am with how-tos. So if you’re looking to try something fun and create some customized alphas for your page, you might think about trying the ScrapSimple Alpha Templates!
