Would you like to get more scrapbook layouts done, but
not sure how? Customize Paint Shop Pro (PSP) to your personal working
style. Digital scrapbooking is, after all, about getting layouts done
to preserve our memories and PSP makes this very easy to do.
I start by creating a layout and keeping track of what
commands and effects I use most often. Where were they found? Was there
a keyboard shortcut I could use easily? Or, did I have to use the menus?

This is my list of most frequently used commands, from
which I am going to make a Custom Toolbar. While some commands have
keyboard shortcuts, I like to have them ready for me to use.

Some commands are found on the Standard Toolbar, and I will move them
to my Custom Toolbar to make them more accessible.

To create your Toolbar, go to View on the menu bar and then Customize.
A new window will open.

Choose the "Toolbars" tab. Click the "NEW" button to create your Toolbar.

I am going to be creative and name mine "Dee." Click "OK."

You will now have created a tiny Toolbar with nothing on it. We are
now going to add those commands that you frequently use from your list.

Click on the "Commands" tab. Look in each category on the left side for
the commands that you use. When you find one that you would like to
add to your Toolbar, left-click on it and while holding the mouse button
down, drag it onto your new toolbar.

Here is my new Toolbar with the commands from the "Edit" category.

At the far left of many Toolbars is a vertical line of
dots. These dots allow you to dock the Toolbar where you want it, or
move it and make it float. To customize the Standard Toolbar, undock
it by grabbing the dots and dragging it into the center of the workspace.
Drag the commands that you want to remove onto the Customize dialog
box. You can then ADD them to your Custom Toolbar, if you wish. Drag
it back and re-dock under the Menu bar.

Now that I have my Toolbar complete, I can add or remove
commands if I find that I am using new ones. Simply open "Customize,"
drag off the ones not being used, and drag on the ones you want.

I keep my Custom Toolbar docked on the right-hand side
of my workspace beside my Layers Palette, but you can dock it where
it feels most comfortable to you.

Save your workspace by going to File> Workspace> Save.
Type in the name of your workspace. You can see that mine is named "Dee_PspWorkspace."
Browse to where you would like it saved, or simply click "OK" to save
it in the default My PSP Files location.
