Using ScrapSimple Layer Your Own Brushes with Styles and Actions
Note: Tutorial created using PSCS2 with Windows Vista.
One of the things I love about working with the ScrapSimple Layer Your Own series of brushes is that they are a blank canvas. You can add as many papers, styles, etc. to them as you'd like until you come up with a unique item for your digital scrapbooking layouts. Below, I will take you through the steps I went through to create this customized ice cream cone.
First, while holding down the Shift key, I opened all of the pieces and dragged them over to the PNG file that included the cone. Once I got all of the individual PNG files over, I then duplicated the image so that I was not working with the original file.

Now comes the fun part, deciding what I’m going to add to the PNG files to create my item. I start with the cone and apply the ScrapSimple Tool – Style: Cardboard.

Next, I apply papers to the ice cream layers. To do this, I drag my patterned paper over, making sure it is on the layer above the PNG I want to add it to, and that it is the active layer. Then, I press Ctrl+G. This will mask the paper to the template. After I have masked the layers, I then add a small drop shadow to them.

To add a little, special touch to the item, I use the ScrapSimple Tools – Styles: Glitter Brights to the cherry and the ScrapSimple Tools – Styles: Chipboard Distressed 4105 to the ice cream layers.

Finally, I decide I want to turn this into a sticker. I open the ScrapSimple Tools – Actions: Sticker Maker, merge the layers and apply the action.
