Want to make cool digital scrapbooking papers like these? You can with the ScrapSimple Paper Templates. Here’s how to do it in Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
First things first:
Open a new, transparent page, 12x12, 300 dpi.
Click on the Gradient Tool.

When your gradient colors appear under your printer icon on the top, click on the “Edit” button. A new window will appear.
Click on the “More” button and choose “Noise Samples.” These gradients work best with this technique because of their choppy, colorful nature.
Either choose a gradient that appears in your selection boxes, or click “Randomize” at the bottom of this box. This will give you a new gradient each time you randomize.
When you see one you really like, press “New” and it will save it to your presets. Play with that for a while, then close out of that window.
Now a gradient is visible in the gradient box under your printer icon.
Click the arrow beside the gradient and choose your gradient for your paper. Your cursor will appear as a plus sign.

Click and drag your cursor across the top edge of your paper. Release, and your gradient will fill the paper vertically.

Open your paper template, and drag it onto your gradient background.
Create a new layer. Make sure this new layer is the active layer.

Now drag your cursor along the right side of your new layer, from top to bottom, forming a new gradient. This one will be horizontal. Your template is now hidden.

Press Ctrl+G together to create a clipping mask, and your top layer will conform to the shape of your template.
Cool, huh? Just remember to click and drag your cursor all the way across or down your paper or the gradient will not fill the paper all the way. Also make sure your gradients are at right angles, one vertical, one horizontal, or when you mask, the template design will be invisible, and you’ll be left with a plain gradient!
Have fun with this, and try it on other templates!
