Rotating Your ScrapSimple Paper Templates for Depth in Photoshop and PSE
This tutorial applies to any non-directional, abstract template.
Want to do more with your digital scrapbooking ScrapSimple Paper Templates? Try spinning them. You can add more depth and detail to your paper by rotating duplicate templates. Here’s how to do it in Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
Open a new 12x12, 300 dpi, transparent paper. I’ve colored mine a cool aqua.
Now open your template and drag it onto your background.
Change your Blend Mode to “Overlay.” This is what you should see on your screen at this point:
Notice that your template layer is active.You can tell this by seeing that the template layer is highlighted in your Layers Palette (located on the bottom right portion of your screen).
Duplicate that layer by right-clicking on it and selecting “Duplicate Layer.” This new template layer will also be in "Overlay" mode, and should now be the active layer.
Go to “Image” at the top left of the screen, pull down to “Rotate,” then click on “Layer 90 degrees Right.” Make sure you are rotating the layer and not the entire image.
Your paper will now look like this.
Remember to always duplicate and rotate your top template layer, always rotate only the layer, and rotate in the same direction. (Choose either right or left, then stick with it.)
