I sometimes find myself getting completely overwhelmed with everything life throws at me. Once that happens, the balance is off, and my health starts to fail because I haven't taken the time to cook proper meals or to exercise. Then I can't take care of the people I love because I don't feel good, much less happy. In trying to please everyone, I fall short in pleasing anyone because I'm not able to devote the time and attention that any given job or project needs.

If you've been around for awhile, you know that I have a little homemaking blog named How Mom Did It. The purpose of this blog is to share what my mother and grandmother taught me about homemaking, cooking, sewing, gardening, being thrifty and such. I took a little hiatus from this blog during 2011, but have recently started working on it again because it's fun to have a change of topic sometimes.

I don't know about you but I love Google! Every time I turn around, they have something new for me to play with, and it's usually always free! Gotta love that! Google has a great photo organization program called Picasa - you may have heard of it and maybe even use it. It's a great place to upload photos and layouts to share and have as back-up copies in case of computer failure. You can download and find out more information about it here:

Color - our world is so full of color everywhere we look. There are so many shades of one color that you may get lost in your search for one particular color or another. It's amazing to me to look out at a beautiful fall day and see all the colors of the leaves and how they change even throughout the season of fall. As I sat at my table looking at a very bright green Tupperware® cup with a matching lid and straw, I was overcome with my appreciation of color.
Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.

You can use whatever you want to from the ad - the colors, the shapes, the composition. There are no wrong answers!
November Message Board Game: Thankfulness Game!
It's time to give thanks for all the large and small blessings in our life! Each day during November, with the exception of Sundays, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of an item for which we are thankful in the official game thread. To participate in the game, you will search the Scrap Girls Boutique and Gallery for layouts including that item, and then post a link to either the product or gallery page in the game thread.
Each member who links to a Boutique product layout will be entered into a drawing for one of three $3 Gift Certificates. Each member who links to a gallery layout (and leaves love on the layout) will be entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates!

Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery.
