While one girl's picture appears here on the Newsletter, Scrap Girls is really a community of talented designers, techy gals, thoughtful contributors and fantastic customers. We are ALL so happy to have you as part of the Scrap Girls community and we are very grateful for your support.
Help us create our spring collaboration to benefit Food for the Poor!
Twice a year at Scrap Girls, our fabulous designers work together to create a unique collection that we call our "Charity Kit." A full 100% of the sale of these collections go to help others.
Our charity of choice is always Food for the Poor (http://foodforthepoor.org/), a terrific Christian organization that helps those who need it most. We have requested that money raised by Scrap Girls goes specifically toward providing clean drinking water, and to date, Scrap Girls has helped Food for the Poor dig new wells in communities all around the world.
This year, we want our customers to join us in the fun of creating this spring's charity kit. For the next three weeks, we will be asking questions on our Facebook page to find out what style, theme, and color palette you would like to see for our spring collection. So stop by our page and share your opinion.
Then, as the designers get to work on what you come up with, we'll use Facebook to give you some previews of their designs!
If you've ever wanted to have a say in what goes into a collection, this is your big chance! As always, 100% of the sales of the spring collection will go to Food for the Poor – so the very best part is that it's all for a good cause!
Article written using Adobe Photoshop CS5 with Windows 7
I have been a "journaling" kind of person since my college days. Journaling was a big reason why I was attracted to paper scrapbooking way back in 1999. My first scrapbooks are filled with photos on white backgrounds - except the white backgrounds are almost 100% covered up with journaling.
As my scrapbooking style has evolved, my journaling has become more of a design element on my pages. Yet I still want to maintain enough space to tell the whole story. Now that I have gone digital, the sky is the limit with how creatively I can show my stories on my pages.
On the page below, I decided to see how creative I could be with shaped journaling using some of the many type paths in the Scrap Girls Boutique. I used two of Syndee Nuckles's type path products and simply double-clicked on the small square "T" in the Layers Palette to highlight the sample text she provided and start typing my own journaling.
To find more Text Path products in the Scrap Girls Boutique, just enter "Text Path" in the Search box on any page in the Boutique. Then just see how creative you can be! You'll find paths that allow you to journal around the edges of a shape (as I did in the layout below) and many that allow you to journal within the shape itself. The sky really is the limit.
Don't forget to show us what you've created by uploading your layouts to the Scrap Girls Gallery!
