Revisiting Clusters with January's Scrap Girls Club
Article written using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 with Windows 7
Assignment: Do a layout for the January 2013 Club. Easy, right? Well... it really was! It took me longer to choose the photo than it did to make the layout.
The January Scrap Girls Club 12th of Never by Jen Reed is so easy to use and lends itself particularly well to blending and layering.
This chandelier photo was taken at The Hermitage in St. Petersburg and worked well with all the gold and aqua in this kit. The kit colors would also work well with celebrations, snow, formal, boy, and water-themed layouts.
I had a hard time choosing papers, so I decided to place one over another and erase away in places. This left me with a nice background for my photo.
My next step was to build up a base for my photo and my layering. Again, this kit made it easy – I used the photo mat for my base and simply added my photo, some stamps, and the frame as my centerpiece.
Then I used the ruffle and more stamps at the top and bottom to anchor all my flower embellishments.
Using the bows as corner pieces and a flowing ribbon, I decided I was finished. Yet it still looked like I could fit in those gorgeous flowers from the other paper I liked... but I had enough papers.
I decided to extract the flowers from the paper, add a yellow photo filter to reduce their starkness and lower the opacity a little. This gave them the effect of tissue paper. A very soft shadow completed this look.
I took this kit in a flourishing, flowery direction, but I am keen to try it in a more grungy style, too. Plus I haven't even started on all the word art and alphas yet... nor the JIF kit... nor the Members Only supplies! Be sure to post any layouts you make with this stunning kit in the Scrap Girls Gallery so we can all "leave some love" and be inspired!
