It All Adds Up
I feel like I have accomplished a lot. After having three children, I managed to earn two bachelor's degrees, and while raising my three children, plus adding one more, I achieved a master's degree. During these programs, I received high grades in business math, statistics, and algebra. I enjoyed the challenge, and I enjoyed the courses.
Now here it is, years later, and I am struggling with third and fourth grade math. Would you believe that children are now expected to add starting from the left column going over to the single digit column? Would you believe in third grade, you have to know the probability of dice being thrown and coins flipped? Would you believe that we not only have to know the circumference of a circle, but how to spell the word circumference? Where did my "simple world" go?
While struggling with a story about a child having "three times the money his sister had, half the money his friend had, and only a tenth of the money he needed to buy a video game, how much money did he have?", my lovely daughter from my second family tells me her friend, Allison, wants her to be more like her (Allison).
Now there is a question I can answer. No, you are perfect being Joce. You are the best at being Joce. No one was ever made like you, Joce, so let Allison be Allison, and you stay you. Now, Joce, help your mama with this math problem.

Congratulations Kay (KayMitch)! The Scrap Girls Team has chosen Kay as the Member of the Month for February!
Kay is a huge asset to Scrap Girls. Since joining in April 2010, Kay is one of the first members to welcome new members to the forum. These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes, simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On February 8th, we'll do a Color Challenge! Create a layout on any theme, any topic, using the colors red and white! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. February's Message Board Game: Posting Contest!
February is Posting Contest time on the Scrap Girls Forums! You can win a Scrap Girls Gift Certificate by simply being chatty in the Scrap Girls Forums and Gallery. This contest will run from February 1st when we post the thread until 11:59pm MT on February 29th.
To enter the Scrap Girls Forum Posting Contest, you MUST reply in the Posting Contest Thread with your CURRENT post count. Your post count is the number under your avatar that shows when you post. (NOTE: The number found on your profile is a number which is calculated differently.) During the month, post your fingers off! At Midnight on February 29th, we will calculate your post count based on the numbers posted in the game thread.
PRIZES:
- Those with 50-99 posts will be entered in a drawing for a $5 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate.
- Those with 100-249 posts will be entered in a drawing for a $10 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate.
- Those with 250-399 posts will be entered in a drawing for a $15 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate.
- Those with 400 or more posts will automatically win a $5 gift certificate and will be entered in a drawing for a $20 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate!

February Monthly Layout Contest: This February we have a Leap Year Day. For this month's contest, we want you to scrap about what makes you "Leap for Joy." Let us know in your journaling why you leap for joy. Post your layouts in the February Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MST on February 29th. Be sure to list your layout's product credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. Two layouts will be selected to win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
