Prioritizing Life
I sometimes find myself getting completely overwhelmed with everything life throws at me. Once that happens, the balance is off, and my health starts to fail because I haven't taken the time to cook proper meals or to exercise. Then I can't take care of the people I love because I don't feel good, much less happy. In trying to please everyone, I fall short in pleasing anyone because I'm not able to devote the time and attention that any given job or project needs.
Some days I need to remember to put myself first. This might seem selfish, but it really isn't. When you take the time to care for yourself, you feel nurtured and ready to love and help the people around you. When you take the time to exercise, you are able to move about and accomplish tasks with a primed body and mental clarity. Exercise makes you feel good, which you naturally radiate by being happier. Same goes for cooking healthy meals rather than skipping them (and feeling empty) or reaching for junk because you don't want to take the time to cook what you know you should have.
Finally, you need to put some personal time aside for yourself. Block out some time to read a book, take a relaxing bubble bath, write in a journal, try a new hobby, paint your nails, doodle in a sketch pad, browse a favorite store, or whatever it is you do that recharges you. If you make sure and take care of yourself, you will be ready to accomplish any task.
I've also started to counteract feeling scatter-brained by keeping a daily planner. This is essential to keep me from feeling overwhelmed with a million small tasks. It feels great to cross things off a list and get a sense of accomplishment. Slowly, my life shifts back into balance when I remember to adjust my focus and rebalance my life. Once my life falls into place, I am able to help people around me sort out their problems and better their lives.
It reminds me of that oxygen mask analogy that the flight attendants lecture us on: “Put on your oxygen mask before helping other people put on theirs.” It just may be the most valuable advice I've ever heard!

Twilight Magic Collection Biggie
When I set out to create Twilight Magic, I wanted a collection that embodied a magical, eternal love, a dark, mysterious love. It is one part Twilight (the Stephenie Meyer series), one part Harry Potter, one part night, a hefty dose of true love and romance, a bit of fairies, vampires, werewolves, magic, a hint of fall and Halloween with a pinch of darkness. I think it all came together just right, and I have found so many uses for this collection. I would chance to say it has become my go-to collection!

What are Easy Page Card Albums?
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop CS5 with Mac OS X
Christmas cards are such a fun way to share your family’s year with friends and family. ScrapSimple Card Templates are an amazingly easy way to create your very own unique photo cards in a snap! I’m going to use the Easy Page Album: 4x6 Holiday Time.
First, choose one of the nine included 4x6 Easy Page Card Designs, and open it up in your photo editing software.
Next, open the photo you would like to use, and drag it over to your open Easy Page Card document. In the Layers Palette, drag your photo layer beneath the easy page design layer. Now you can adjust the size and placement of the photo until it looks good under the frame.
There you have it! You now have a beautiful and unique Christmas card that you completed in a matter of minutes! You can choose from any of the nine card templates included in the Easy Page Album and experiment with color changes as well to further your customization. Have fun!

East Coast High Noon Crop

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On November 9th, we'll do a font challenge! Create a layout on any theme, any topic, and any colors - using multiple fonts - at least 3 different fonts! Mix it up! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!

November Message Board Game: Thankfulness Game!
It's time to give thanks for all the large and small blessings in our life! Each day during November, with the exception of Sundays, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of an item for which we are thankful in the official game thread. To participate in the game, you will search the Scrap Girls Boutique and Gallery for layouts including that item, and then post a link to either the product or gallery page in the game thread.
Each member who links to a Boutique product layout will be entered into a drawing for one of three $3 Gift Certificates. Each member who links to a gallery layout (and leaves love on the layout) will be entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates!
