The Perfect Exercise
I found it! I found it! The perfect exercise!
I talked with my aunt a few weeks ago, and her doctor recommended she ride an exercise bike and run on a treadmill. Well, I'm not a doctor, and I didn't study the human body for years, but I've been around for years noticing human nature. If an exercise is too hard, too boring, or too challenging, we just won't stick with it. We need an exercise plan that we love, that makes us feel good, makes us look forward to exercising again, and doesn't make us embarrass ourselves. I told my aunt, that's crazy, you don't need to be riding an exercise bike or running on a treadmill.
But I was a little too late. My aunt, in her 80s and on oxygen, had already permanently injured her hip. Maybe if my aunt had been in the Marines most of her adult life, this program would have been great. Well, I'm not in my 80s, not on oxygen, and never walked across a physical training field, but I told my aunt about my perfect exercise program. Now, I'm happy to say she is in the same type of program that I am - and we are both happy.
Here is my perfect exercise: Water aerobics. I couldn't believe how well it worked for me. We don't go over four feet deep so even the non-swimmers in the class feel safe. Those of us with apple shapes or thunder thighs look slimmer with the splashing and movement of the water. We don't get winded, so we can chat the entire hour. We don't sweat because we are in a pool. The aquatic center I attend has a canvas roof over heads, but they lower the canvas sides in the summer so we don't get sunburned. Our teacher always has music playing so we can follow the beat and stay in step, most of the time. (My brother tells me I need to keep one side of my brain busy so the other side of my brain doesn't know I am working.) Water aerobics is a non-weight-bearing exercise, so it is safer for women of a more ample size.
As you know, there really isn't any one perfect exercise. Yes, water aerobics does have one small drawback. After swimming and showering, we have to get dressed. Putting on clothing over damp skin can be the "real" workout. (Ssshhhh, sometimes I even come home without putting my bra back on! We sure don't ever want to overdo any exercise program.)
I've stuck with this exercise program longer than any other program I've been on. I feel invigorated when I get home and ready to tackle the house or the yard. The women I exercise with have had a variety of health struggles, many with arthritis, but they keep on exercising, smiling, and encouraging each other.
I wonder if we will do the hokey pokey today....

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On November 9th, we'll do a font challenge! Create a layout on any theme, any topic, and any colors - using multiple fonts - at least 3 different fonts! Mix it up! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!

November Message Board Game: Thankfulness Game!
It's time to give thanks for all the large and small blessings in our life! Each day during November, with the exception of Sundays, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of an item for which we are thankful in the official game thread. To participate in the game, you will search the Scrap Girls Boutique and Gallery for layouts including that item, and then post a link to either the product or gallery page in the game thread.
Each member who links to a Boutique product layout will be entered into a drawing for one of three $3 Gift Certificates. Each member who links to a gallery layout (and leaves love on the layout) will be entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates!

Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery.
