Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
For this layout, I wanted to use Lori Cook's ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Weaved and Woven in a creative way. I selected one paper from Happy Haunting Collection Mini and one from Witch's Brew Collection and "wove" them together. To do this, first I brought the paper template into my layout. Then, using the Magic Wand, I selected just the white portion of the template, and hit "Shift+Ctrl+J". This separated the white and the dark portions of the template onto two layers. Then, I simply clipped each of the papers to their own portion of the template. Then, I merged all layers together, creating a nifty woven Halloween matte for my photos. To add some additional dimension, I brushed Lori's Brush Set: Fractals over the newly made matte.

"Farm Fresh" by Michelle Torres

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
One of my favorite flowers is the sunflower. I wanted to extract one of the sunflowers using the Pen Tool. I first made a copy of the Farmer's Bounty Collection - Emb2_Sunflowers.png. I then hid the original layer by clicking on the eye in front of the layer. I selected the Zoom Tool and zoomed in on the individual flower I wanted to extract. Making sure the Pen Tool is selected and the Paths Option was selected, I began clicking to place anchor points around the image. At corners or curves, I placed more anchor points so the curve would be smooth. Remember it is very important to close the path, so a selection can be made. To close the path, your last anchor point must be placed on top of the first anchor point. Once the path is closed, you will see that a small loop will appear next to the Pen tip. Click to close path. As soon as the path is closed, it will become a line around the flower. Right-click on the image and choose "Make Selection." A small pop-up window will appear. Set the feather radius to 5 pixels and make sure the Anti-aliased Box is selected. Click OK. Your line is now changed into a selection. Click the Rectangular Marquee Tool and set your cursor on the selection. Click your right mouse button and select "Layer via Copy." My last step is to go to the Layers Palette and deselect the eye in front of the original flower. I now have my selected flower.

Halloween Candle by Elisha Barnett

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
This technique will work with a pillar candle where only the center will burn down, so that the paper stays away from the flame. First, I measured my candle's height and diameter, and created a document in that size. Then I simply used different brushes from Brush Set: Fractals and stamped using my desired colors. When I was happy with it, I printed it on the white tissue paper. To do this, I taped all the edges of the tissue paper to a piece of cardstock and ran it through the printer. I cut it out and dotted the edges of the paper with a glue stick and positioned the paper around the candle. Now comes the fun part! I used my hair dryer on the high heat setting over the paper around the candle until I could see the wax coming through the paper. When you're done, the paper will be embedded in the wax and it will feel just like a candle. It will look especially amazing when the candle burns down a bit, backlighting the beautiful fractals!

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To create a border between the top paper and the bottom paper, I layered the two papers on top of each other. I then stamped my brush on a third layer above the papers. Making sure my brush layer was active, I chose the Magic Wand tool, and with the Contiguous box checked, I clicked on the area below the brush, which put the marching ants around my selection. I inverted my selection, clicked on my top paper layer (to make it active) and with the marching ants still there, I deleted the part of the paper layer that was selected.

"Fall" by Jo Corne

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To brush Lori Cook's Brush Set: Grunged Butterflies on to my layout, I first created a new layer just for the brush. I find that it always helps to brush onto a dedicated layer so that if I need to resize, recolor or redo my brush, I will not be interfering with any other layer or element on that layer. I chose the brush I wanted and, making sure my foreground color was black, "brushed" the butterfly onto the page. I then resized and repositioned the butterfly to where I wanted it to sit. To recolor this butterfly, I used my Color Picker Tool and clicked on the color from within the photo that I wanted. I made sure to rasterize the butterfly layer and used the keyboard shortcut Cmd+U (Ctrl+U for a PC), clicked the "Colorize" box and then manipulated the sliders until I was completely happy with the color of the butterfly.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
In order to make Lori Cook's Brush Set: PhotoEdges 4 work as an eraser in Photoshop Elements, I first sized my photos, then I clicked on the Eraser Tool and loaded the brush set. I sized the brush to remove the proper amount of the photo, then I clicked to erase. Because some of the frames used a vertical orientation and my photos were horizontal, I rotated the entire layout and then used the Eraser Tool.
