Scrap Girls is announcing its vacation plans... STAYCATION! The whole team is going to have a STAYcation this year, and we want you to STAYcation with us. Our Product Designers are having a STAYcation, too, and as a change from slaving away making beautiful digital scrapbooking supplies for you to scrap with, they're hosting chats all week! You know it, you dread it, it's back... with a STAYcation twist! The Picnic Basket of Doom is here!
For those of you new to this game, the object is simple. You must correctly identify the items shown in the picnic basket image. There are 38 items. Some objects may have multiple items, such as a brush on a paper, or a style.
Now don't panic! You don't have to find them all to play the game. (Whew!) But anyone who DOES get them all correct will automatically win a $10 Gift Certificate! No problem. You've got it. This means more than one person can win a $10 gift certificate. (Anyone this motivated deserves a prize!) The winners of these gift certificates can get in on the rest of the game, too!
For all players:
- If you get 15 or more correct answers, you will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Gift Certificate!
- If you get 10-15 correct answers, you will be entered into a drawing for a $10 Gift Certificate!
- If you get 5-9 correct answers, you will be entered into a drawing for a $5 Gift Certificate!
To enter the game, send your guesses to [email protected]. For each item guessed, you must include BOTH the product name and a link to where you can find it in the Scrap Girls boutique. Your email must be received by Midnight (MT), on Thursday, July 31st. We can not be responsible for lost or unreceived emails. One email per member; Dee will respond to your email to let you know it was received. If you do not receive a reply in 24 hours, please resend.
Good luck, and happy hunting!

Schedule:
Thursday - July 31: Picnic
- 12:00 Noon ET - Picnic - LEAD EVENT (Amanda M., Thao & Erica)
- 4:00PM ET - Thursday Message Board Challenge Chat (Carla)

Life Muses by Ro: Life in Miniature |
Note from Ro: I found this neat post in the Scrap Girls Blog by Angela Blanchard. She has used digital scrapbooking supplies to help her make the cutest doll house! I simply had to show it to you. Have fun oooohhhing and ahhhhhing!

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved dollhouses. Over the years, I have collected many miniatures and hoped to one day build a dollhouse to showcase them, but the idea of building something like that seemed so daunting! Then, I saw pictures of antique dollhouses and found that many early versions weren’t “houses” but cabinets or “room boxes.” Now, this sounded doable! After some thrifty shopping, I found a used pine cabinet that I could alter for my purpose.
After removing the existing cabinet doors, making supports to hold shelves for the upper story and a lick of paint, I was ready to really get moving. It’s been so great to raid my existing stash of craft supplies to decorate the interior rooms - I didn’t have to buy a thing! I used strips of wood left over from my husband’s projects for the floors and moldings. Wire and beads that had been boxed up for awhile were perfect for a chandelier. I used my digital scrapbooking materials for the wallpaper, wainscoting and borders. I scaled and printed them right from my computer. (I know some of you Scrap Girls will recognize the patterns.) Plus, I was able to pull out my metal embossing kit to emboss a “tin” ceiling for the living room.
It’s still a work-in-progress, so you’ll have to excuse the unfinished bits. I’m just so glad that I finally let go of my original notion of an actual dollhouse and took this new direction. There are no rules. No “right” way to do things. Sometimes, I just have to make a little shift in my expectations and that’s when the fun begins!
- Angela

Way Cool Stuff Product Review: ScrapSimple Card Templates |
Note: Screenshots were created in Adobe Photoshop CS3 on a PC.
I think one of the reasons you get addicted to Scrap Girls is that we have the most awesome templates that give you the ability to expand your creativity beyond a 12x12 layout. One of my favorite kinds of template is the card template, because with little ones running to birthday parties all the time, this template sits on my desktop! Today, I am going to show you how to create a card using Mandy Steward’s ScrapSimple Card Templates: 5.5x4.25 Curvy Biggie, along with Syndee Nuckles’ Cocoa Couture Collection for this project.
Just a reminder as you are working: do not to save over the original files, because if you do, it will become stuck permanently.

First, I open all the files associated with the card that I am going to make, including the sample card.

Now, I am going to resize my first sheet of paper to fit the base of my card. To do this, I open the window for my card base and then drag and drop the sheet of paper I want for the base of my card on top of it. Then I resize the paper to fit the template and use a clipping mask to attach it (Ctrl+G in PSE and Alt+Ctrl+G in PS).

I repeat this step for all the pieces of the card.
There are two ways to finish the card at this point: we can print all the pieces of the card and assemble it by hand, or drag and drop all the pieces into the base, add embellishments and then print. I am going to show you the second method of finishing your card.

I drag and drop all the pieces of my card onto my base and close the windows, remembering NOT to save any of the pieces I created. Also, I like to leave my sample card open as a guide.

I move all the pieces into place and close my sample card.

Next, I am going to add a guideline so that when I print the card I will know where to fold it. To do this, you go into View> New Guide.

Then position the guideline at 4.25”.

Now I have a thin aqua line running through the middle of my layout. I turn on the grid and check to make sure that all my pieces are lined up correctly.

I am going to add some text and embellishments. Here is a look at the final card I created.
And Printed!

Ro personally uses Carbonite to back up her computer. While it won't backup external hard-drives, it is a fabulous solution for keeping all of your important documents on your C:/ drive safe and your backups completely up-to-date at all times. Using it has made her stop worrying about losing important business and financial files, because the backup happens without Ro having to do a single thing.
