Digital Scrapbook Product Designer

Sara has always had a fascination with computers and art. As a young girl she would spend hours drawing abstract pictures, first using the paint program that came on her dad's Mac, and building up to AutoCad, a drafting program used by engineers. Learning computer software came easily to her. Meanwhile, Sara spent her summers in art classes and sewing. As a teenager she taught herself to quilt and was soon designing her own patterns. She made her first scrapbook album while in high school.

Sara was married during college and had her first son while finishing her degree in Civil Engineering. She went straight from college to being a stay-at-home mom. During this time she taught free quilting classes as a women's ministry at her church and also co-led a small knitting/crochet group called Knotty Ladies. Occasionally, she co-taught engineering classes at the private college in Washington from where she had graduated and where her husband is currently a professor in engineering. Her comprehension of computer software was a big asset and she enjoyed teaching the students.

During her pregnancy with her third son, she rediscovered scrapbooking and starting collecting paper scrapbooking supplies as a way to preserve the memories of her young family. However, it was frustrating having to pull everything in and out of closets in order to keep the little pieces away from her young boys and new baby. So when she saw an incredible all-digital layout in a scrapbooking magazine, she was intrigued. She went searching online and found Scrap Girls.

Soon she knew that this was home and spent many hours digi-scrapping and chatting online with a baby on her lap. She loved that it combined her computer skills with her artistic talents. Over time, Sara found that her layouts were improving. In addition to creating layouts, she also began to design papers and embellishments for her own use.

When Sara isn't digital scrapbooking, she is often found reading, sewing, or watching a movie. She enjoys RV-ing with the family every summer and loves to be out on the water in a boat, especially sailing. She spends a lot of time teaching her three boys how to swim and draw.

Sara is very excited to be joining the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbook Product Design Team and to have the wonderful opportunity to work at home.
