Jan Hicks is a married mother of two boys, living in Arnold, MD. Her husband is a wonderful man named Mike who is tremendously supportive of all of her business and hobby initiatives. She's also the mother of two beautiful Siberian cats named Sasha and Nina. Jan started scrapbooking in 1997, in between the births of her two sons, Samuel and Benjamin. As a new mother with many, many pictures and a lover of many other crafts, it didn't take long for Jan to become totally addicted to scrapbooking.

Although Jan always claimed to be a die-hard paper scrapper, over time she was drawn into the digital side of scrapbooking. She was attracted to the ease of it, and the lack of mess, among other thigns. Being an addicted computer geek, it was inevitable that she would eventually become as addicted to digital scrapbooking as she was to paper. In fact, she has even sold off most of her paper supplies, since they were just gathering dust.

Jan has been with Scrap Girls almost since the beginning. She first came on board as a member of the Layout Design Team, focusing on using the products as printable supplies in her paper scrapbooking. She slowly started designing products for sale in the store. In the summer of 2005, she jumped at the suggestion of her husband to quit her job with the federal government in order to pursue her scrapbooking business interests full-time. She slowly began to build her inventory here at Scrap Girls and has never looked back.

Because Jan has a real love of teaching, and taught many free classes here at Scrap Girls, she was offered the position of Scrap Girls University Principal in the spring of 2007. Jan is responsible for managing the teachers and classes at Scrap Girls. It is another labor of love for her, because she truly enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of this wonderful hobby with others.

Along with designing products for Scrap Girls and managing the University classes, Jan keeps busy by volunteering in her boys' classrooms, reading, gardening, cross-stitching and playing video games.
