Welcoming Committee

Carol Ann Petersen (mostly known as "Zaz") started scrapbooking when her adoption case worker told her that she would have to make lifebooks for her adopted kids. A plain notebook just wouldn't do, so she took up paper scrapping and quickly learned that she was a perfectionist. She was so intimidated by the fact that she could easily mess up her expensive papers and embellishments with too much glue, a nick of the scissors or an enthusiastic critic in the form of a puppy, that she didn't get many pages done.

When she heard about digital scrapbooking, she knew it was for her. She had been using Photoshop for a few years for photo editing, but didn't know anything about layers, brushes or blend modes. After finding Scrap Girls, a whole new world opened up to her. She became very active on the message board and is so excited to be part of the Scrap Girls team now.

Carol Ann is married to just about the greatest man on the planet, Bryan, and has been for over 16 years. They have two adopted children from Haiti, Isaiah and Janae. Janae just arrived this past January and was enthusiastically greeted by all her Scrap Girl Aunts on the messageboard. What an amazingly supportive place!

When she's not chatting on the boards at Scrap Girls, Carol Ann runs her family's art gallery, chases her two kids, reads great books and cooks creatively (she recently discovered the Food Network). When spring arrives to the northwoods of Minnesota, you may also find her in her garden enjoying her favorite season and all the colors it brings or sitting in the grass with her laptop scrapping.
